If your business is considering creating a social media page on a network, then you’re probably headed in the right direction. However, when deciding to bring your business online, you will want to create a social media strategy so you’ll know where you’re headed and what kind of plan you have in mind.

I’m going to give you a few main ideas you want to keep in mind when creating this strategy. You can be flexible with them, but do something that is at least similar so you can be sure you’re doing it correctly.

Campaign

Your main goal in creating anything with social media is being social - building relationships. You’re not just there to sell your products, you’re also there to create customers. So offer your audience something valuable to show that you’re not just trying to get them to buy your stuff. Provide engaging content, helpful information, and incentives like discounts and free gifts. Doing these things in your campaign will create relationships which can, in turn, create customers.

Awareness

Host an online game or contest to make sure people hear of your brand name. This is raising brand awareness. By posting someone online that requires other people’s input, you can get thousands of Facebook fans or Twitter followers, and thousands more engaged users, along with a valid social media presence.

Traffic

Similarly to above, you want to drive traffic to your page. The contests is one way to do it, but here’s a hint for what else you can do: free. People love to get anything for free. You can have people post pictures of themselves with your product(s) or a video and offer a free gift card for whoever has the best one. This will generate traffic to your page because people will be posting like crazy to get whatever it is you’re giving away for free.

Loyalty

Once you have your customers, keep them loyal. Do this by keeping your content up-to-date and consistent. Offer coupons and deals on a regular basis, along with keeping your visitors updated about what’s going on in your business or your niche so they’re never left in the dark. If you keep them informed on your page, they’ll be loyal because they will have no reason to go to another website to get that information.

Purpose

Give your users a purpose for staying with you. If not for the reasons above, invite them to post photos or comments about your products - criticism is great to have, whether it’s positive or negative. Have them share their thoughts and ideas and comment on them so they know they’re being heard and you’re taking those opinions into consideration. This will create top-notch customer service and they will tell all of their friends about your business.

Put It All Together

When you put all of these ideas in place, you’ll be able to create a great social media strategy. With the tips above, you can bring potential customers in, keep them there, and make them come back for more so they will always know what it is you and you’re business is doing. They’ll want to keep tabs on what’s new in your company and when your next product is coming out so they can test that out, too.
