By now, you’ve probably noticed the five small pictures at the top of your Facebook profile page. It’s part of Facebook’s new profile layout. Customizing your profile banner is relatively easy – and doing so can generate more interest in your page.
There are now several Facebook apps that assist you in creating a new Facebook profile banner. You can either use one of your own photos or one that’s already been created. You can also add writing to your banner, too.
Here are the steps to creating a personalized Facebook profile banner:
1) Take a photo. Don’t worry too much about how it looks, because Facebook strips down the quality.
2) Crop your photo. There are several free apps that will allow you to crop your photo, including most picture viewing software. One of the easiest ways to crop your photo is through your phone. After you take a photo using your cell phone, click on the image for options. The Android, for example, has a menu button at the bottom of the screen; the cropping tool can be found under “more.” The profile banners are extremely horizontal. Keep that in mind when cropping your photo.
3) Save and send your photo to your computer. You can keep track of these photos by creating a folder. That way, when it comes time to download your photos, you can easily hunt them down.
4) Now go to your Facebook page. Under your search tool, type in “Profile Banner Creator” (without the quotes). There are several Web sites and apps that will allow you to customize your profile banner, so if you don’t like this one, you have options. This app will ask you for permission to access your Facebook account. Click on “Allow.”
5) If you want to use the photo you just took as your profile banner, click on the link for “Create a Banner.” Otherwise, you can select one of the banners already created.
6) Once you’re in “Create a Banner,” you’ll want to upload your image. Click on the button for “Browse” to select your photo. Once you’ve selected a photo, click on “Upload Image.”
7) This will show you what your new banner profile will look like. You might want to move around the image area for best results. Again, the banner profile photos are very horizontal.
Once you’ve moved the image area to the perfect spot, click “Create Banner.” This will change your banner profile photo.
Another way to brand your product
Changing your Facebook profile banner isn’t just a way to highlight a cute photo of your kids or dogs. It’s also a great way to brand yourself and/or your business. Think of the profile banner as a banner advertisement for your personal profile page on Facebook.
